The 1914-D Indian Head Eagle, struck at the Denver Mint, would be an excellent addition to your collection. Its recessed design, crafted by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, features a bold Liberty portrait wearing a feathered war bonnet on the obverse, while the reverse showcases a majestic standing eagle atop arrows and an olive branch.
PCGS has graded 35 as MS64+ with 64 finer. In CAC, there are 45 in MS64/64+ with 18 finer.
David Akers writes, “The 1914-D is always fully frosty and very sharply struck. The surfaces have a trace of fine granularity but it is not generally as noticeable as it is on the other Denver Mint issues or even most Philadelphia Mint issues in the series. Lustre is usually good to very good and on the rarest of occasions … exceptional.”
