The rare BG-436 (R.6) is one of the few fractional gold varieties to portray the eagle from the Humbert fifty-dollar obverse, and the only such variety without the scroll (alternately called a ribbon or banner) about the eagle. The Liberty head and eagle exhibit an intermediate level of skill, and the Breen-Gillio standard reference ventures the engraver to be Auguste Dubois. The fact that PCGS has graded only 17 original pieces of this variety points to its rarity.
