Just posted- it was quickly pointed out to us by one of our most astute clients that this coin is indeed a 15 Star variety as opposed to the 13 Star variety declared by PCGS. We certainly appreciate the enthusiasm our clients have for the museum-quality coins we try to locate for our website!
This is, in fact, a 1799/8 $1 Draped Bust Silver Dollar also known as BB-141, with 15 reverse stars. To quote our client (SS) he states "...This is the 15 star reverse. Stars 14 and 15 are barely peeking out from the first and last clouds. The middle row of stars on this reverse has six stars while the 13 star reverse has five stars in the second row. This is well struck with nice detail in the centers of several of the obverse stars." Couldn't have said it any better...!
