As Doug Winter has observed, “In 1847, the mintage figure for New Orleans eagles rose to a staggering 571,500 coins... The 1847-O eagle is the most common No Motto issue from this mint. It is very easy to locate in grades up to and including AU53.” This commentary underscores the date’s accessibility relative to other New Orleans eagles, particularly in circulated and lightly circulated grades.

In XF-45, the issue remains well represented yet selectively scarce when certified and approved at higher standards.
