Pratt's design features an incuse relief, with the American Indian chief's profile and perched eagle recessed into the surface—a bold departure from traditional raised elements. The obverse shows a feathered headdress, while the reverse depicts an eagle on arrows and olive branch, both devices protected by the sunken format.
A PCGS MS-63 example exhibits choice uncirculated qualities: strong original luster, sharp strikes typical of late-date issues, and minimal marks consistent with the grade. Surfaces often display pleasing straw-gold to honey-gold tones, with clean fields that highlight the design's details.
