The 1880 Liberty Head Eagle, minted in Philadelphia, features Christian Gobrecht’s classic design in 90% gold. The obverse shows Liberty wearing a coronet inscribed “LIBERTY,” surrounded by thirteen stars; her hair flows in detailed curls. The reverse displays a bold heraldic eagle with shield, olive branch, and arrows, encircled by “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and “TEN D.”
Graded PCGS MS-63+, this example offers sharp strikes on Liberty’s coronet and the eagle’s wing feathers. Light contact marks are minimal, preserving strong cartwheel luster. The CAC sticker affirms exceptional quality within the grade—clean, original surfaces glow with rich honey-golden color.
