Endorsed by CAC. Undated, but struck circa 1837-42 gold C. Bechtler, 67 Grains, 21 Carats $2.50 quarter eagle. PCGS Population of 8 coins with 7 finer; CAC population of 2 coins with 4 finer. This coin is simply gorgeous and features a virtual artists palate of impressionist colors! The obverse features BECHTLER, RUTHERF: with 2.50 at center. Note "BECHTLER" is without "C." or “C:” (also known as Kagin-10). The reverse featreus CAROLINA GOLD. 67.G. 21. WITH CARATS spelled out at the base. This is part of the Fifth Series – 1834-1840, issued by either the nephew Christopher Bechtler or possibly Augustus Bechtler. Weights are shown at 26.8 grains per dollar; fineness shown as 21 Carats.
