The 1882-CC Morgan Silver Dollar is a popular issue produced at the historic Carson City Mint in Nevada. PCGS has graded 12,427 as MS63 with 24,045 finer.
It bears the CC mint mark below the eagle on the reverse. The obverse shows a profile of Liberty wearing a cap, with cotton and wheat ears in her hair, while the reverse depicts an eagle clutching arrows and an olive branch. Designed by George T. Morgan, this silver dollar series has come to be named in his honor.
The Carson City Mint, established in 1870 amid the Comstock Lode silver rush, ceased operations in 1893 after producing coins for just over two decades. Collectors often seek out Carson City coins due to their association with this short-lived facility and the era's Old West narratives, appreciating the mint's output for its scarcity relative to larger branches like Philadelphia or San Francisco.
Graded PCGS MS-63, this coin exhibits uncirculated condition with moderate abrasions and bag marks, yet retains good luster and detail. The 1882-CC had a mintage of 1,133,000, many of which stayed in Treasury vaults until later distributions, contributing to their availability in higher grades today.
