1901-dated Alaska 1/4 Pinch, Indian Head Right, Round, from Hart’s Coins of the West (also called Coins of the Golden West / M.E. Hart Co. souvenir tokens).
These are small private-issue California-style fractional gold souvenir tokens (typically ~13 mm, reeded edge on rounds, made of 10K–14K gold or similar, often described as Alaska gold). They were produced by the M.E. Hart Co. of San Francisco in the late 1890s–early 1900s (with some later restrikes or related issues) and sold as souvenirs, including at expositions. The “Pinch” series features an Indian head in a feathered headdress (facing left or right, with varying numbers of stars) on the obverse and “ALASKA GOLD” / value / “PINCH” in a wreath on the reverse.
