The 1907 High Relief Saint-Gaudens double eagle is widely regarded as the most beautiful coin ever struck by the United States Mint. Its breathtaking design, extraordinary three-dimensional sculpture, and compact yet immense intrinsic value make it the pinnacle for collectors and investors alike. These coins also serve as a discreet, portable store of wealth that can be seamlessly passed to future generations.

This example is graded PCGS MS-66 and exhibits satiny, original luster with exceptionally bold striking detail throughout Liberty, the Capitol, stars, eagle, and olive branch. Both surfaces are virtually flawless to the unaided eye; only one microscopic contact mark appears in the left obverse field (visible solely under magnification) prevent an even higher grade. PCGS Population of 61 coins with 24 finer.

Offered here is the scarcer Flat Rim variety. Although no official breakdown exists for the approximate 12,367 High Reliefs minted, numismatic scholars and current PCGS population data (4,479 Wire Rim vs. only 926 Flat Rim submissions) indicate the Flat Rim is roughly five times rarer—yet it typically sells for a small premium. As David Akers observed decades ago, and as the market continues to demonstrate, the Flat Rim remains significantly underrated and underpriced relative to its true scarcity.

After more than a century, most surviving examples are impaired or grade below MS-65. Truly high-end Flat Rim pieces in MS-66 or better are genuinely rare and seldom offered.
