Struck at the Philadelphia Mint with a generous mintage of 1,669,300 pieces, the issue saw heavy commercial circulation and melting during the 1930s Gold Recall, leaving relatively few high-grade survivors despite the originally large production.
Its bold design by James B. Longacre features a classic coronet Liberty on the obverse and a heraldic eagle on the reverse, embodying the confidence of Gilded Age America. In MS-64 condition, the coin displays booming cartwheel luster with only minor scattered contact marks. The strike is typically sharp on the hair curls and eagle feathers, and the fields remain clean for the grade.
