With a mintage of 1,735,000, the 1877-S is considered semi-key in the series due to lower survival rates in high grades. Most examples entered circulation, enduring wear from commerce. PCGS MS-61 certification indicates a Mint State coin with moderate marks and abrasions but retaining full luster and sharp details—eye appeal often exceeds the technical grade.
