One of the key issues within the Standing Quarter series, and extremely difficult to locate with Liberty's head fully struck up, as NGC has designated here. We've traced this coin back to 2011, when Heritage offered this coin at the ANA Sale in August as lot 3886. It realized $11,500 then and was described as "...Although just a touch of high-point wear shows on this attractive Standing Liberty quarter, it still exhibits Full Head definition. Both sides display brilliant surfaces with vibrant mint luster and considerable eye appeal. Only 396,000 Standing Liberty quarters were minted in 1927 at the San Francisco Mint. Census: 2 in 58 Full Head, 16 finer (5/11). Today, the NGC Census shows 3 in 58 Full Head with 19 finer.
