The 1883 Morgan Silver Dollar was struck at the Philadelphia Mint with a mintage of 12,590,000 coins, a product of the Bland-Allison Act that required large-scale silver purchases and mintages. Graded MS 62 by CACG, it remains in Mint State condition, showing only light contact marks and abrasions consistent with brief handling—or during storage in mint bags.
George T. Morgan’s classic design features Liberty wearing a cap and wheat sheaf on the obverse, while the reverse depicts an eagle with outstretched wings clutching arrows and an olive branch. At MS 62, the coin retains strong detail in Liberty’s hair and the eagle’s breast feathers, with full luster beneath the toning.
