1804 U.S. Mint Gold $1 Dollar & Silver Medal Set in Original Mint Box

Celebrate the fourth release of the Best of the Mint series with the 1804 Silver Dollar Gold Coin and Silver Companion Medal, struck at the United States Mint facilities in West Point (gold) and Philadelphia (silver). Quantities are limited, offering a once-in-a-lifetime chance to collect this special edition set. In honor of the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence, the Mint curated 21 historic coins spanning the Nation’s history from 1792 into the 21st century; after public input and expert recommendations, five coins were chosen for the series of 24-karat reissued gold coins paired with silver medals featuring modern companion designs: the 1916 Mercury Dime, 1916 Standing Liberty Quarter Dollar, 1916 Walking Liberty Half Dollar, 1804 Silver Dollar, and 1907 Saint-Gaudens High Relief $20 Gold Coin.

The 1804 Silver Dollar Gold Coin and Silver Medal Set is the fourth release in this semiquincentennial series. The high-relief gold coin’s obverse depicts a draped bust of Liberty facing right, with long hair bound by a ribbon and flanked by 13 stars, inscribed “LIBERTY” and “1804,” plus a unique Liberty Bell privy mark with the numeral “250.” The reverse features a heraldic eagle with raised wings, a United States shield on its breast, a scroll inscribed “E PLURIBUS UNUM” in its beak, 13 arrows in its right talon and an olive branch in its left, under clouds and 13 stars, with “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” encircling the design. In keeping with the original, the edge is inscribed “HUNDRED CENTS ONE DOLLAR OR UNIT.”
