Obverse: helmeted Athena, her crested helm echoing Pheidias, gazes right—warrior goddess sanctioning mortal conquest. Reverse: winged Nike advances left, cradling stylis and wreath, the legend ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ vertically aligned. Die engravers, likely from Amphipolis or Lampsacus, rendered folds of drapery and feathers with a precision that rivals reliefs on the Parthenon frieze.
