1854-FD California Fractional Gold $1 Liberty Head Octagonal PCGS Genuine - AU Details BG-504 Eagle
Struck by Frontier & Deviercy of San Francisco, the octagonal design maximized gold usage and echoed the territory's innovative spirit. This is a popular Frontier, Deviercy & Co. variety with a reverse that depicts the eagle, shield, and ribbon motif from the Assay Office slugs.
The coin's obverse features a coroneted Liberty Head, inspired by contemporary U.S. federal designs, encircled by 10 stars symbolizing California's place in the Union. The reverse showcases an eagle with outstretched wings, clutching arrows and an olive branch, which is a nod to the "Humbert" style from earlier pioneer gold pieces.
