This rare colonial appears in the Red Book right after the British Colonies Sommer Island (Bermuda), and the mid-to-late 1600's Massachusetts, Maryland and New Jersey colonial coinage. They were struck in nearly pure tin and represent the first authorized coins of the British colonies in America. The holder says "graffiti," however, we see a few obverse "scratches" rather than an attempt to deface this important numismatic item.
