The reverse displays Winged Victory with mountain peaks behind and reads, 50 PESOS 37,5 Gr. ORO PURO (37.5 Grams Pure Gold). The years 1821 and 1945 are below on the mountains. Edge lettering: INDEPENDENCIA Y LIBERTAD (Independence and Liberty). This series was struck from 1921 to 1946 to commemorate the Centennial of Mexican Independence from Spain in 1821. This coin has a mintage of 1,012,000, is 37 mm. in diameter, weighs 41.6666 grams, and is .900 fine gold.
