1932 $10 Indian Head Eagle NGC MS64 (CAC)
This coin is a great work of numismatic art. There is no other way to describe the dramatic design upon Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ Indian Head Eagle (1907-1933). 1932 was the next to last year of this ever-popular series, and collectors who seek a type coin should carefully study this listing, for the final year (1933) is virtually impossible to acquire.
The obverse design was a true collaboration between Saint-Gaudens and President Theodore Roosevelt. Roosevelt used his bully pulpit with the sculptor-medalist, in essence demanding that he add the Indian feather headdress to make the coin iconically American.
NGC has graded 18,524 as MS64 with 4,645 finer. Collectors Universe prices this issue at $2,450.00 in MS64. In CAC, there are 1,382 in MS64 with 240 finer. CAC gives this issue a price of $2,400.00 in MS64.
