1928 $2.50 Indian Head Quarter Eagle PCGS MS64
Imagine adding this lustrous coin to your collection. “The 1928 is slightly more rare overall than the 1926 and 1927,” writes David Akers. “Gems are very scarce, if not rare, and are considerably more difficult to find than those of 1926 and 1927, not to mention 1925-D and 1908. Relatively few specimens better than MS-65 are known, and such high quality examples can really be considered extremely rare.”
The 1928, the penultimate issue of this popular series, is usually attractive in Mint State. Typically it is well struck with attractive frosty surfaces, excellent luster, and color that is usually light to medium gold with a greenish hue. Many specimens exist, however, that have a light rose gold coloration, as is this offering from AUCM. PCGS has graded 1,972 as MS64 with 586 finer. Collectors Universe gives this issue a price of $950.00 in MS64.
