Here’s an attractive and more affordable example of this classic key date in the Peace dollar series. Q. David Bowers writes, "In my opinion, the design is one of the most beautiful in American numismatics.... Peace dollars evoke a nostalgic era in United States history.... The ... Peace dollar you hold in your hand was in existence during the boom of the 1920s with its fancy cars a la The Great Gatsby..." PCGS has graded 2,004 as AU58 with 9,039 finer. In CAC, there are 78 in AU58 with 767 finer.

Upon its release, a newspaper in Philadelphia wrote, “Liberty is getting younger. Take it from the new 'Peace Dollar,' put in circulation yesterday, the young woman who has been adorning silver currency for many years, never looked better than in the 'cart wheel' that the Philadelphia Mint has just started to turn out. The young lady, moreover, has lost her Greek profile. [Hellenic] beauty seems to have been superseded by the newer 'flapper' type."
