1925-D $2.50 Indian Head Quarter Eagle NGC MS63
Here’s an attractive, well-struck example to add to your collection.
“After a decade–long gap in production, the Indian Head Quarter Eagle appeared once again,” writes Jeff Garrett. “The Denver Mint was brought into action and produced a quantity similar to that of earlier years. For some reason, this and later dates were saved in large numbers. The 1925–D is the most common of the series and can be found in all grades up to MS 65 with little difficulty. The luster for the issue is among the best for the series.”
NGC has graded 5,037 as MS63 with 5,271 finer. Collectors Universe prices this issue at $750.00 in MS63.
Writes David Akers, “The 1925-D almost always has very good to excellent mint lustre ….The mint mark is usually a little weak but well defined .… The color is typically a rose tinted gold but there are also coppery colored specimens as well as ones with green and yellow gold shades.”
