1924-S $1 Peace Silver Dollar NGC MS64+ (CAC)
A low mintage date (1,728,000), the 1924-S Peace dollar can be found quite easily in circulated grades and the lower mint state grades. In Gem condition, however, the 1924-S becomes one of the great condition rarities of the Peace dollar series. It is the poor quality with which the 1924-S silver dollars were produced that makes the quest of finding a gem example noble and challenging. Many specimens are lackluster, with heavily scuffed surfaces, as well as a poor strike. Of course, there are exceptions to the rule, but they are not easily found. The piece offered by AUCM in this listing is one of those quality examples; if it were not, it would not have been awarded the coveted green CAC sticker.
NGC has graded 55 as MS64+ with 86 finer. In CAC, there are 226 pieces in MS64/64+ with only 24 finer. CAC has priced the 1924-S at $1,420.00 in MS64 and $9,500.00 in MS65.
