1909 1C Lincoln Cent PCGS MS66RD (CAC)
“This issue is considerably rarer than its 1909 VDB counterpart,” writes David Hall. “The 1909 can be found in Gem full red condition as quite a few original rolls were saved. The typical example is well struck. The luster is usually a little subdued, and color can be quite red, but you don't usually see the blazing red examples you can find for the 1909 VDB.”
The 1909 issue was struck after the “offending” V.D.B. initials were removed. PCGS has graded 600 as MS66RD with 187 finer. Collectors Universe prices this one year type at $540.00 in MS66RD. In CAC, there are 98 in MS66RD with 43 finer. CAC gives this issue a price of $470.00 in MS66RD.
