1907 $10 Indian Head Eagle, No Motto PCGS MS64+
Absolutely a masterwork of numismatic art. There is no other way to describe the design upon Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ Indian Head Eagle (1907-1933). 1907 was the inaugural year of this ever-popular series, and collectors who seek a type coin do their best to acquire an example from the first year.
The obverse design is a true collaboration between Augustus Saint-Gaudens and President Theodore Roosevelt. Roosevelt used his bully pulpit with the sculptor-medalist, demanding that he add the Indian feather headdress to make the coin iconically American. PCGS has graded 66 as MS64+ with 469 finer. Collectors Universe gives this issue a price of $7,500.00 in MS64+.
