1906-D $5 Liberty Head Half Eagle PCGS MS63
Great collectible in PCGS Old Green Holder!
It was in 1906 that the Denver Mint produced its first coinage. Among those first year issues were a substantial mintage of 320,000 Liberty head $5 half eagles. It appears that many of those coins were saved, for they are quite common through the grade of MS64. In gem, they become more difficult to locate, and are extremely rare above gem. PCGS has graded 1,156 as MS63 with 927 finer. Collectors Universe prices this issue at $1,150.00 in MS63.

Here’s an exciting collecting option to consider. The Liberty Head half eagles were the only US coins to be produced at every one of our mints. How about creating a type set of these $5 gold pieces? It would be fun and interesting to take the time to put together a set of Liberty Head half eagles by acquiring one each that was produced in Philadelphia, Charlotte, Dahlonega, New Orleans, San Francisco, Carson City, and Denver. Imagine putting together that special set of seven gold coins from those seven historic US mints. Wouldn’t that be a rewarding achievement? And the perfect piece from the Denver Mint is being offered by AUCM, waiting for you to claim as your own.
