This rare, sought-after 1906 Barber dime in NGC PF67 is only available for purchase in the complete 1906 proof set offered by AUCM (Indian head cent through Barber half dollar). Out of its original mintage of 675, only 160 have been graded proof by NGC. And out of that small amount, just 5 carry the grade of PF67 STAR, with 4 finer (as of 5/2021). Look at the images of this numismatic work of art, with its dramatic obverse patina of orange, gold, yellow, russet, and aqua. Muted versions of the same colors are found upon the reverse. This is a registry coin of stunning beauty; the NGC STAR designation is only given to striking examples. Imagine the years of pleasure you will have when you own this treasure. This 1906 proof set is perfect for the collector who desires both true rarity and beautiful toning in his or her numismatic holdings.

1906 10C Barber Dime NGC PR67 (STAR)

We at AUCM are pleased to present for your enjoyment and consideration a true beauty: a 1906 Barber dime NGC PR67 STAR. A rare coin due to its quite limited mintage, its rarity is surpassed by the beautiful rainbow colors that adorn both sides of this specimen. This 1906 proof set would be perfect for the collector who desires both true rarity and beautiful toning in his or her numismatic holdings.

It was in 1892 that the dime, quarter and half dollar were redesigned, employing a Liberty head device common to all three denominations. The Barber dime (so named for its designer, Mint Engraver Charles E. Barber) features Miss Liberty on the obverse facing right, her hair tucked under a Phrygian cap and bedecked with a laurel wreath. The word LIBERTY is found in small letters on a band above her forehead. The inscription UNITED STATES OF AMERICA surrounds Miss Liberty at the rim, while the date is below. Since there was no room for the motto IN GOD WE TRUST on the reverse, it was omitted, and a large wreath is presented with ONE DIME within it. Numismatic scholar and art critic Cornelius Vermeule writes that, " Liberty's cap, incised diadem, and wreath of laurel were designed to echo all the depth and volume of her Olympian countenance. The classical substances are offset, almost literally, by the sharply rectangular dentils of the raised rim ... [Proof] specimens [are] a pleasure to contemplate. The sculptor was unsurpassed in the mechanics of creating a durable design of monumental validity."
