1906 $5 Liberty Head Half Eagle PCGS MS65
We've seen a lot of generic Gem MS65 $5 Liberty Motto half eagles in our time, and every so often we encounter a coin that's worthy of the "headlight" description. This coin really drips luster and color. It sparkles! A few marks under magnification keep it from a higher grade, though, such as a couple located on the chin and neckline of Lady Liberty and an area of contact located behind the curl of the lock of hair over the neck. The reverse is definitely a higher grade, but as we know, pricing coins as split grades doesn't work that way any more. Accompanied by a PCGS Trueview. CU price guide presently has the MS65 1906 as $1,650. The most common 1900 is priced at 10% less, or $1,500. PCGS population has the 1906 at 79 with 59 finer; the 1900 has 198 with 28 finer. Priced as generic.
