The Philadelphia Mint produced 2,822,000 Morgan Dollars in 1897. They were considered rare until the Treasury sold many bags of uncirculated 1897 silver dollars during the early 1960's. Today in the 21st century, this issue is common through gem. However, in its gem-plus grade of MS66+ it becomes a bit harder to find. PCGS has graded 102 specimens as MS66+ with just 87 finer. Perhaps you should consider adding this piece to your collection as a type coin or as a superior Morgan dollar for a price that won't break the bank.
