Examples such as this well-circulated piece are prized by Carson City Mint enthusiasts. Out of the original mintage of 677,000, there have been 458 graded VF35 by PCGS, with 5,385 finer.

Ron Guth writes on PCGS Coinfacts that, "The 1893-CC $1 is an immensely popular coin because of its Mint of origin, the fact that it is the last of the CC dollars, and because sufficient quantities remain ...."

A circulated Carson City coin has a lot of history to it, much more than an UNC one. Why is that? Because in the Old West it was common for silver dollars to circulate. And if this coin could talk, just imagine the stories it could tell--of how many bars and shops and bordellos in which it was spent. Plus, of course, a circulated coin costs a lot less than an uncirculated one.

The year 1893 was the last of the Carson City Morgan dollar sub-set with the "CC" mintmark. David Bowers writes of them that, "surviving pieces are much loved, much desired by numismatists."
