This is a stunningly beautiful example of an issue that typically is the complete opposite. Out of its original mintage of 1,352,000, there have been a sizable 11,676 graded by PCGS. However, there are only 40 that carry the superior gem grade of MS66, with a mere 8 finer (as of 9/2021). This is an excellent opportunity to get one of the absolutely finest 1892-CC Morgan dollars. If you have the resources then making this flashy coin your own should be a no-brainer. Imagine the years of great pleasure you will derive from owning this showpiece!

It is with great pleasure that we at AUCM offer an 1892-CC $1 Morgan dollar graded PCGS MS66. This coin is a triple threat: PQ, Conditional Rarity and Registry Set piece. This coin is an anomaly. Such beauties in this date and mintmark (graded MS66) are very difficult to track down. A piece such as this would be perfect for the collector who wants only the finest Morgan dollars for his or her numismatic portfolio.

Despite its high mintage, the 1892-CC dollar becomes pricy as the condition moves up from circulated into mint state. Wayne Miller tells us that the 1892-CC, similar to the 1891-CC, has booming luster with the frosty devices that Morgan dollar enthusiasts love. It is typically well struck, but flat struck examples are relatively common. The hits they took in the mint bags over the years are generally heavy, making it a challenge to find a gem. Again, as with the previous year, Miller says the surfaces of the 1892-CC coins are often "scruffy." This also makes it difficult to find gem examples. The number of these coins in government vaults only numbered in the tens of thousands; that is because many went into circulation beginning in 1892.  David Bowers writes that "many bags were paid out over a long period of years, including in 1926-1927, accelerating in the late 1940s and early 1950s. Most of these went into circulation." The year 1955 alone saw 50 bags sold. There were no 1892-CC dollars in the Treasury hoard. Thus it will not be surprising to readers that there was a single example of this date sold in the GSA mail bids of the 1970s. This is a rare coin, especially in mint state grades. When considering the above, the example offered by AUCM is definitely is PQ is every sense of the word.
