1892-CC $1 Morgan Silver Dollar PCGS AU53
Carson City: two little words that paint big pictures of the Wild West, the Comstock Lode, and Morgan silver dollars--the most popular collectable in American numismatists. The discovery of the Comstock Lode, the first big deposit of silver ore in the United States, inspired the silver rush of 1859. Prospectors swarmed into Nevada, scrambling to stake their claims. The town of Virginia City--and many others--sprang up as a direct result of the Comstock Lode. Mining camps soon dotted the landscape and became centers of enormous wealth.
The current offering from AUCM is a relic of the Wild West, both real and legendary. And you will save some money when you purchase it in its AU53 grade. PCGS has graded 294 of the 1892-CC silver dollars as AU53, with 8,781 finer. Imagine living in the Old West back in the 1890s: The smell of whiskey hung in the air as stacks of Morgan dollars sat upon the gaming tables in smoke-filled rooms of Rhyolite, Tincup, Silver Reef and other gambling towns that dotted the West. In banks, bordellos, and bistros in Helena, Cheyenne, and Denver, clerks handled silver dollars every day. Many dollars that changed hands in those days carried the "CC" mintmark of Carson City.
