1889-P VAM-5A Far Date, Pitted Reverse, Gouge Olive Branch
(Previous discovery by Leonard Hinckley, February 1974 and revised by Herb Zepke, December 1998, were a different coin, delisted because it was a striking error.) Discovered by John Coxe, November 2006 - with VAM-5B.
This coin is a Hit List 40 Morgan VAM. Despite sticker on holder, there is a POPULATION of 1 with 4 FINER (64 is finest by NGC)

Obverse III2 5 -
Die Markers - Curved thread-like impression at lower back of Phrygian Cap and two diagonal polishing lines below lower lip.
Reverse C3a - Pitted die with raised dots from D of DOLLAR up to wreath and in middle and lower edge of eagle's right wing. Heavy polishing lines between olive leaves and diagonal die gouge across olive branch below olive.
