1884-O/O $1 Morgan Dollar, VAM-6, TOP-100, NGC MS67 DPL "Finest Known in DPL!"
We at AUCM are fortunate to present for consideration a "Finest Known in DPL" 1884-O/O $1 Morgan dollar, VAM-6, TOP-100, graded NGC MS67 DPL! Additionally, this pristine example is a Conditional Rarity and Registry Set Piece. Superior graded specimens are among our specialties at AUCM. If that is what you desire, you've come to the right place! This sensational example could be the centerpiece of a spectacular Morgan dollar collection.
This is not a typical 1884-O silver dollar. Silver dollar expert Wayne Miller writes, "The 1884-O usually exhibits good luster.... There is considerable variation in strike, however.... the majority of 1884-O dollars are poorly struck. Some are so flat on the high points that, were it not for the full luster typical on this date, they would be rejected by collectors as 'sliders.' On others details are indistinct due to improper striking pressure." Among 1884-O dollars, the example being offered in an anomaly. It is everything a typical 1884-O Morgan dollar is not! David Bowers writes, "There are many prooflike [1884-O] coins in existence .... However, most show little contrast and are the antithesis of cameo, and most are heavily bagmarked." Again, the piece offered by AUCM is the opposite of what Bowers described. It features a stunning cameo, one that will elicit both admiration and envy when presented to fellow numismatists.
