From among the Carson City Morgan dollars, the 1884-CC is one of the most common. This issue was seen to be a major rarity before the GSA sales of the 1970s and 1980. The reason for this is that the GSA had a whopping 962 original bags of that date--962,000 coins--which was more than 84% of the entire original production!
Those GSA sales made the 1884-CC silver dollar quite easy to find in mint state through MS65. This issue is one of three coins that form a trinity of similar "CC" dollars (1882-CC, 1883-CC, and 1884-CC) that are generally well-struck and offer, according to David Bowers, "beautifully deep frosty lustre." The 1884-CC issue is the most widely available of all the Carson City silver dollars.
