1882-CC $20 Liberty Head Double Eagle PCGS XF45 (CAC)
NEW LOWER PRICE. Here’s an attractive piece from the famous Carson City Mint to add to your collection. David Akers writes, “The 1882-CC is a moderately scarce date in all grades and ranks right in the middle of the Carson City Mint Double Eagles (9th out of 19) in terms of overall rarity.”
Therefore, the 1882-CC is a more available issue than its mintage of 39,140 suggests. Doug Winter estimates that there are 800-900 total survivors in all grades. Heritage Auctions reports, “the 1882-CC Liberty double eagle is a readily collectible issue in most circulated grades, thanks to a number of pieces that have been repatriated from foreign holdings over the years.”
PCGS has graded 220 in XF45 with 687 finer. In CAC, there are 23 in XF45 with 121 finer. CAC prices this issue at $7,050.00 in XF45.
