1882-CC $1 Morgan Silver Dollar PCGS MS64 (OGH)
Great Carson City Mint collectible in the classic PCGS Old Green Holder!
For many collectors, the 1882-CC Morgan dollar is the prototypical Carson City issue. Its mintage places it among the lower end of the entire Morgan dollar series, far less than the 11.1 million silver dollars struck in Philadelphia that same year. But thanks to the GSA releases of the 1970s, perhaps over half of the original production is in the hands of collectors today in the 21st century. PCGS has graded 14,216 as MS64 with 8,911 finer. Collectors Universe prices this issue at $475.00 in MS64.
The 1882-CC is one of three coins (including the 1883-CC and 1884-CC) that form a trinity of “CC” dollars that are generally well-struck and offer, according to David Bowers, "beautifully deep frosty lustre." They are the most widely available of all the Carson City silver dollars. Below is the original mintage and the former GSA holdings of the 1882-CC:
1882-CC mintage: 1,133,000. GSA holdings: 605,029 or 53.4% of original mintage.
