Here’s an attractive type coin to add to your collection. This specimen has the popular Liberty Head design on the obverse. Numismatists enjoy owning pieces such as this offering, with its neo-classical style.
Jaime Hernandez writes in PCGS Coinfacts, “The 1879 $10 Gold Liberty Eagle has one of the higher mintages in the series. Despite its high mintage, it is very scarce in MS64 condition. And in MS65 grade or higher, it is extremely rare.” PCGS has graded 156 as MS62 with 87 finer. Collector’s Universe prices this issue at $2,250.00 in MS62.
