1878-CC $10 Liberty Head Eagle NGC AU50
There were just 3,244 Liberty eagles produced at the Carson City Mint in 1878, the majority of which were released into circulation in the Western economy. Few examples were saved by collectors at the time, making the 1878-CC a rare issue.
The surviving population is believed to be around 60-75 examples in all grades today, per PCGS. This attractive AU50 specimen offers pleasing surfaces and honest wear. NGC has graded 11 as AU50 with 26 finer. The finest at NGC is a single MS61, while the top piece at PCGS is a sole AU58. Collectors Universe prices this issue at $37,500.00 in AU50.
