1877 $10 Liberty Head Eagle NGC AU58
Only 50 to 65 have survived, per PCGS!
Here’s a truly great rarity for the sophisticated numismatist to add to his or her collection. The date 1877 brings a certain distinction across all denominations as there are several rare, low mintage issues from this watershed year.
The 1877 $10 Liberty head eagle completes a run of dates from the 1860s into the 1870s with unbelievably small mintages, such as the present issue, which was struck to the tune of only 797 coins. According to PCGS, only 50-65 pieces of the 1877 ten exist today. This is a choice AU example with strong eye appeal. Please take a careful look at the photos and you will see what we mean.
NGC has graded 10 as AU58 with 0 finer! This example is near the very top of the graded population. The only finer pieces are:
1 in AU58+ (PCGS)
3 in MS61 (PCGS)
1 in MS61PL (NGC)
