1877-CC 10C Liberty Seated Dime PCGS MS67 - Condition Rarity!
Exquisite Carson City Mint Condition Rarity in MS67!
Here is a stunning—and we mean stunning—piece from the storied Carson City Mint to add to your collection. If you would like just one superior example from that mint, well this might very well be the one to buy! PCGS has graded 10 as MS67 with only 1 finer. Collector’s Universe prices this issue at $8,000.00 in MS67. The coin offered by AU Capital Management is one of the plate coins on the 1877-CC 10c PCGS Coinfacts page.
Out of a mintage of 7,700,000 this one is near the very top of the graded population. The mintage was so huge due to the Specie Resumption Act of 1875. Beginning on January 1, 1879, citizens could exchange their greenback currency at banks for either gold or silver coinage. Nothing else could explain such a huge mintage at Carson City, which is famous for very low mintages.
Writes Ron Guth in PCGS Coinfacts, “The 1877-CC Dime has the second largest mintage of any date in this denomination (only the 1876-CC Dime has a larger mintage). … Literally hundreds of examples 1877-CC Dimes exist in Mint State, so collectors will have no problem finding a nice one to add to their holdings. It is only in MS67 that the 1877-CC Dime becomes rare…. Most examples are frosty and lustrous, but a few examples are Prooflike.”
