BG- 723, 1872 California Fractional Gold 25C, Washington Head NGC MS63 R6-
Here’s a choice specimen of a rare Frontier & Bellemere Washington Head Gold 25c Octagonal. What makes this variety unlike most other California Fractional Gold coins is that it presents the visage of George Washington upon it. The majority of Fractional Gold issues display the image of Lady Liberty or an Indian Head. There are only a handful of varieties in the entire vast series with the Washington head.
This is a rare piece, one that will be greatly cherished by its new owner. NGC has graded 8 in total. Of those, there are 2 in MS63 with one finer. PCGS has graded 6 as MS63 with 2 finer. Collectors Universe gives this dramatic variety a price of $3,600.00 in MS63. Please take a look at the images of this offering. The obverse has attractive honey gold coloration, while the reverse has a rich red patina. For more information about this rare variety, please see below.
