Needless to say, the 1871-CC dime poses a challenge to collectors regardless of condition. XF45 is considered to be a relatively high grade for this very rare issue. The 1871-CC dime’s popularity is intensified by its being the first date of issue for the denomination at the Carson City Mint. Only a single die pair was needed to produce the small mintage of 20,100 examples of the 1871-CC Seated dime.
