A superb example coming from what appears to be a small group that has been certified over the past couple of years. What we find so remarkable about the BG-808 coins is the depth of strike and the artistic detail of the design. Coins we have encountered typically have deep sunken fields surrounded by thick beaded edges. The fields, especially on the obverse, have a light concentric design. This is a great candidate for a 12 piece California Fractional Type Set, covering the Gold 25C, Liberty Round issue.

Obverse: Large crude head; 7 five-pointed stars, 1st star to left of middle of neck, 3rd star to left hair on forehead. Same as BG-804 through BG-807. Repolished to remove rust.
Reverse: 1 4 DOL LA R 1870 within wreath, no fraction bar. The 70 is further from DOLLAR than BG-807. No bow.
