1858 G$1 Indian Princess Gold Dollar PCGS PR62 (CAC)
Spectacular golden treasure from the Harry W. Bass Collection
Take a look at the images of this truly stunning work of numismatic art. Harry W. Bass, Jr., patiently collected some of the most beautiful examples of U.S. gold coinage. And now you have an opportunity to call one of them your own! PCGS has graded 3 of the 1858 Gold $1 pieces as PR62, with 9 finer. In CAC, however, there are just two in PR62 with none finer.
Heritage Auctions writes in 2016, “The number of proof 1858 gold dollars struck has not been [handed] down for posterity from a Mint that was rather mysterious about such matters at the time, but the number was certainly small. Breen's proof reference estimated that fewer than a dozen pieces survive. We upped that number to 15 to 18 pieces in the cataloging of the ex: "Col." Green-Eric Newman example in November 2014.”

One of the Greatest U.S. Gold Coin Collections Ever Assembled
The Harry W. Bass Collection was one of the most amazing collections of United States gold coins ever created. It was showcased at the Money Museum of the American Numismatic Association for over 20 years—from 2001 through 2022. Of utmost importance was a set of virtually all known die varieties of early U.S. gold coin denominations in the finest condition. Included in the Bass Collection was the only complete collection of $3 gold pieces—including the unique 1870-S; a complete collection of U.S. gold coin types from 1795 to 1933; and an incredible grouping of rare U.S. pattern coins.
