1857-S $20 Liberty Head Double Eagle PCGS MS65

This coin was not retrieved from the wreckage of the S.S. Central America; thus it was considered a great rarity before the discovery of the hoard of 1857-S coins discovered on the ocean's floor of the Central America and other shipwrecks. Since it was not under ocean water for about 150 years, it is original and has not needed numismatic conservation. The coin has been in the same pristine condition since the day it was struck in 1857 at the famed San Francisco Mint. The discriminating numismatist will enjoy years of pleasure when this historic specimen is in his or her numismatic portfolio.
