Antoine Louis Nouizillet was among the major producers of California Fractional Gold coins from 1852 to 1858. His first appearance on the scene is documented in the San Francisco city directory dated September 8, 1852, when he was partners in a jewelry firm with Isodore Routhier. The December 1852 directory shows him twice: as Nouizillet & Co, Jewelers, and also a listing solely under his name. Another collaborator during this period was the diesinker M. Deriberpie.
PCGS has graded 63 examples of the BG-431 variety. There are 14 in MS63 with 4 finer. NGC has graded 19 pieces. Of those, there is one in MS63 with 2 finer.

Obverse: 11 stars; 1st star opposite the lower part of the throat; 1854 below head.
Reverse: HALF DOL. CALIFORNIA GOLD around and outside of wreath; 11 berries on each side; empty wreath inside.
