BG- 105, 1854 California Gold Rush Circulating Fractional Gold 25C, Liberty Octagonal PCGS MS66 R3
Here’s a more affordable variety from the vast California Fractional Gold series to add to your collection. The thick-necked Liberty head device is an element of the work of Frontier, Deviercy & Co., a fruitful producer of California fractional gold coins. Miss Liberty is surrounded by five stars on this octagonal variety.
The reverse presents ‘1/4 DOLLAR 1854’ within a beaded circle. Frontier, Deviercy, and Co. had their establishment at 137 Pine Street in San Francisco. Previously they purchased the jewelry firm of the Joseph Brothers, the acknowledged pioneers of the development and production of California Fractional Gold coinage.
