Here's a collectible piece in an affordable grade that was crafted and produced by Frontier, Deviercy & Co. of San Francisco. The obverse presents a coroneted Liberty head facing left, surrounded by 10 stars. At the rim of the reverse is 'CALIFORNIA ★★ GOLD.' The FD mint mark--for Frontier-Deviercy--is at the bottom of the reverse. Within a beaded circle is '1 DOLLAR 1853.' NGC has graded 36 examples of this issue. There are 8 in MS62 with 10 finer. PCGS has graded 106 specimens of the BG-505. Of those, there are 14 in MS62 with 9 finer.
